Are you interested in taking your climbing to the next level by learning to lead or venturing outside? If so, there are two classes the Hadlock Student Center is offering that you should check out.

  • Lead Climbing: This is for experienced climbers looking to develop their rope and belay skills. The four-part course will introduce participants to lead climbing, belaying and falling. The class and certification cost is $20. Anyone interested in lead climbing at the Student Center will need to take the full course. Classes will be offered Tuesdays at 11 a.m. starting Sept. 10, and Wednesdays at 5 p.m. starting Sept. 18.
  • Gym to Crag: This course will cover a variety of topics, including knots, anchor building, and risks unique to outdoor climbing. There are three class sessions on Sept. 17, Oct. 1, and Oct. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. The course will conclude with an outdoor excursion on Saturday, Oct. 12. The course fee is $15 and needs to be paid prior to the first class session. Participants should be experienced climbers with a current belay certification through the Hadlock Student Center.
