In support of the University’s mission, the Library has started making way for space needs at the Portland Center.
The stacks, which contain our print collection (books and journals) are currently being relocated to the Murdock Library in Newberg. This involves interfiling over 22,000 books and thousands of journal issues from the Portland Center Library (PCL) into the collections at the Murdock Library.
In addition to library student employees, Robin Ashford (Head of Portland Center Library and Digital Learning, Research and Instruction Librarian) and Gloria Doherty (Director of Digital Learning) will remain at the PCL.
This opportunity allows the Library to evaluate and enhance research help, library services, and the learning spaces for an ongoing and robust Portland Center Library presence.
We continue to work towards offering our community of students, faculty, and staff a seamless library experience, no matter the location or format, in order to serve the university and library mission as, “a place for holistic connection, innovative creation, and authentic contribution.”
One service enhancement example: upgrading our courier to daily service (currently twice a week). This will increase the speed at which items arrive for pickup at the Portland Center (positively impacting access to the GFU collection, Summit (Alliance), and interlibrary loan).
