Portland Seminary is Christ-centered, broadly evangelical, and committed to equipping women and men holistically for local and global service.

Portland Seminary exists to develop leaders and scholars to have a transformative and prophetic influence for Jesus Christ in the church and the world. We pursue this purpose by integrating spiritual formation, history, theology, and biblical and pastoral studies, in a multicultural and ecologically sensitive environment.

Operating as a university-based graduate school, the Seminary offers a variety of Masters and Doctoral programs.

The Seminary is committed to a Christ-centered and biblically-based approach to theological education that provides a safe place for students to explore the most pressing ministry challenges of the day.

Rootedness: We prepare leaders who are rooted in Scripture and proclaim in word and deed the gospel of Jesus’ incarnation, life, death and resurrection, carrying out through the Church God’s mission to foster personal and community transformation.

Spiritual formation: We are committed to forming our students and alumni holistically in Christ.

Equality: We promote women, people of color, and other commonly disenfranchised persons in full ministry, engaging global, intercultural, and other forms of diversity.

Earthkeeping: We emphasize that caring for creation, as a form of activism in service to racial and economic reconciliation, is an essential part of our faithfulness to Christ.

Innovation: We are a Portland-based, national seminary that is redesigning theological education to prepare leaders to serve in both entrepreneurial and established ministries.
