NEWBERG, Ore. – George Fox University has announced plans to add a master of business administration (MBA) cohort in downtown Portland, Ore., beginning in the fall of 2010.

The university’s Part-Time MBA program, already offered at the school’s Portland Center near Tigard and in Boise, Idaho, will begin conducting classes at the Portland World Trade Center’s Building Two, located at 25 S.W. Salmon St., in September. The degree has been offered at the Portland Center since 1992.

A series of information meetings about the program are scheduled at the downtown Portland location beginning with a Thursday, March 4, session from noon to 1 p.m. Additional meetings are scheduled for Tuesday, March 16, and for Thursday, April 8, both from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Prospective students can find additional meeting dates for MBA information online.

The 26-month, 42-credit-hour program, offered through the university’s School of Business, begins new cohorts in September. Classes meet once each week, from 6 to 10 p.m., plus occasional Saturdays. The course includes an optional weeklong international study trip and a community consulting project.

In addition to the basics of business, the George Fox Part-Time MBA emphasizes leadership, interpersonal communication, ethics, and social responsibility. Class discussions and readings are balanced with projects and case studies to demonstrate how theory is applied in the real world. The program also incorporates an overseas study trip for a first-hand view of international business.

George Fox also offers a Full-Time MBA program. The final 2010-11 registration deadline for the 11-month program, which begins with classes in August and ends in June 2011, is Thursday, July 1. Those who apply to that program before the early-registration deadline of April 1 will have their application fee waived.
