Search Pattern

Web search technology is evolving from a descriptive to a predictive model with researchers working to create answer engines and enhanced search assistance for users.  A researcher at Penn State analyzed almost one million search queries and found that people typically follow the pattern of first narrowing their search terms followed by reconstructing the query if they haven’t found what they need.  Being able to predict search patterns will aid in creating search technology that will offer improved assistance to users at key points in their search process.  Read more in the Science Daily article, If At First You Don’t Succeed, Let the Search Engine Try.
