Know the world through fiction

report from Manchester University and the London School of Economics claims that fictional stories can provide as much or more educational value as factual academic information.  Fictional works like novels and poems that have real world issues, events, or information woven into the plot can provide a good education.  People love stories and reading them can be a powerful way to learn new things.  Most people will be more inclined to read a novel than an academic work because it is more enjoyable and the narrative can provide a memorable learning experience.  There is an article about this in The Guardian.
