{"id":84,"date":"2018-04-03T18:00:33","date_gmt":"2018-04-03T18:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/?page_id=84"},"modified":"2018-04-18T22:19:23","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T22:19:23","slug":"gulley-hall","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/buildings\/gulley-hall\/","title":{"rendered":"Gulley Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/a\/georgefox.edu\/historygfu\/_\/rsrc\/1461365249767\/campus-buildngs-2\/coffin-hall\/Coffin-Residence-Hall.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Gulley Hall is named after Emmett Gulley. \u00a0He was a president of George Fox University when it was still known as Pacific College. \u00a0Emmett Gulley took up the college presidency following Mr. Pennington\u2019s resignation from the role. \u00a0Mr. Gulley was an alumnus of Pacific College class of 1917, who returned as a professor in 1928 and took up the presidency in 1941 through 1948. \u00a0In the years he was not working at the school Mr. Gulley spent time as a missionary in Mexico and working in refugee camps in Cuba.<\/p>\n<div>Construction on the building was finished in 1996, and for the first decade of its life, it was known simply as University Hall.
