Each year, three productions are put on, one of the three generally include one musical.\u00a0Works range from ancient Greek theatre to contemporary scripts. These productions bring students, faculty, and community members together and allow a learning experience as well as a night of entertainment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-804 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-theatre-300x221.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-theatre-300x221.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-theatre.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In addition to main-stage productions, there are student-directed works, evenings of improvisational theatre and performances by the University Players, George Fox&#8217;s touring theatre troupe. Originally, the plays were put on by students, primarily the freshman class, although there were also student body plays as well. There have been numerous impactful plays that have been performed throughout the years. The production of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our Town<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which was performed both in 1976 and also in 2018 was considered popular. \u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wild Ginger<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, performed in 1935, was the most popular and attended play since the theatre department began in 1932. The theatre department frequently performs many Shakespeare plays such as\u00a0<em>The<\/em> <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and many more. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the years, the theatre department and its students have won numerous awards.
