That was the year that the students came together and formed the student orchestra, which was later integrated into the college itself. This was the beginning of the long history of students being heavily involved in the music department. The orchestra worked closely with the community, \u00a0with collaboration with local bands such as The Hulls. The choir was at the forefront of George Fox Music in the 1950s, with the choir gaining enough acclaim by the 1960s that they could go on a tour to raise funds for missions trips.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_802\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-802\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-802 size-medium\" style=\"font-size: 1.125rem;\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-choir-300x98.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"98\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-choir-300x98.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/history\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/gfu-choir.png 558w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-802\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Concert<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The music programs at George Fox tended to work closely with the theatre department to create the musical theatre productions here, which were by and large well received by the student population.
