To make sure you caught that, 60% of consumers are <strong>near<\/strong> a recycling center, but that doesn\u2019t mean 60% of plastic is recycled.<\/p>\n<p>In the U.S., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/GPUS_FinalReport_2022.pdf\">only 20.9% of PET plastics and 10.3% of HDPE plastics are actually recycled<\/a>. A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumerreports.org\/environment-sustainability\/the-big-problem-with-plastic\/#:~:text=One%20of%20four%20things%20happens,landfilled%2C%20incinerated%2C%20or%20littered\"> majority of the remaining plastics are incinerated (15.8%) and landfilled (75.5%)<\/a>. It might just be me, but a <em>Wall-E<\/em> earth isn&#8217;t appetizing.
