The 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7,<\/strong> chapel in Bauman Auditorium<\/strong> will begin with a special presentation, coordinated by the Bruin Heritage Society. After a short video highlighting the university’s history, a group of dedicated alumni (from the 1930s through the\u00c2\u00a0 1960s) will sing the university’s official song, “Close Beside Chehalem’s Mountain.”<\/p>\n

For many years the song, written in 1904 by several students, was taught to incoming students during orientation and sung after every sporting contest. More recently, the song has all but vanished from the campus.<\/p>\n

The alumni who are participating are excited to share this piece of George Fox’s history with the current campus community. We hope you are able to attend and are touched by the love they have for their alma mater.<\/p>\n
