{"id":71043,"date":"2020-06-22T09:05:18","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T17:05:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/?p=71043"},"modified":"2020-06-22T09:05:22","modified_gmt":"2020-06-22T17:05:22","slug":"about-our-people-260","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/2020\/06\/22\/about-our-people-260\/","title":{"rendered":"About Our People"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Four faculty members were recently honored with faculty achievement awards for the 2019-20 academic year:\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Todd Curtis\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>(Engineering) and\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Jillian Sokso<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(Art and Design) were named the undergraduate teacher and researcher of the year, respectively, while\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Jennie Harrop\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>(Department of Professional Studies) and\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Debby Thomas\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>(Business) received the corresponding awards at the graduate level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nicole Enzinger<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(Education) coauthored a chapter, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Mathematics education communities: Crossing virtual\u00c2\u00a0boundaries,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the recently published Springer book\u00c2\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/gp\/book\/9783030442910?fbclid=IwAR3_NADfYNaB8lVhjRuKFm934rhVEc9l5UtKaEDEcwz0MOLqvtqKFArdDpY#aboutBook\">Borders in Mathematics Pre-Service Teacher Education<\/a><\/em>. The chapter explores mathematics education communities\u00c2\u00a0within and across social media with a communities\u00c2\u00a0of practices lens and shares implications for teacher preparation.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ed Higgins<\/strong>&nbsp;(English Emeritus, Writer in Residence) recently published a review of George Fox alumna Joann Boswell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s poetry volume&nbsp;<em>Cosmic Pockets<\/em>&nbsp;on the Christian Feminism Today website. He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s also published a number of his own poems in recent months, including \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Barricades\/barracuda\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (in&nbsp;<em>Otholiths<\/em>, an online magazine, on May 1); \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Night Fear Illusions\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (in&nbsp;<em>Black Poppy Review<\/em>, an online literary journal, on March 31); and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the full moon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s light,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Epistemology\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153refugees\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (in&nbsp;<em>The BeZine: Waging the Peace, An Interfaith Exploration<\/em>, an online literary site, on March 15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Paul Anderson<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0(Christian Studies) and the university are featured in an article, <a href=\"https:\/\/heritage.saintjohnsbible.org\/posts\/2020\/06\/george-fox-university-celebrates-its-125th-year-with-the-arrival-of-the-saint-johns-bible\/\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Saint John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Bible Illuminates George Fox University\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 125th Anniversary,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/a> on\u00c2\u00a0<em>The Saint John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Bible<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0website.
