MaryKate Morse <\/strong>(Seminary) published a book this spring, Lifelong Leadership: Woven Together through Mentoring Communities<\/a><\/em> (NavPress). In it, she offers a comprehensive mentoring community model to support and develop Christian leaders for the lifetime of their calling. This communal and formational approach to mentoring leaders was field-tested and proven to be effective in diverse cultures and faith contexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don Powers <\/strong>(Biology) and four colleagues published an article, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hummingbird torpor in context: duration, more than temperature, is the key to nighttime energy savings,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the May 2020 issue of the Journal of Avian Biology<\/em>. The piece was the cover subject of the publication, dedicated to empirical and theoretical research in ornithology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Anderson<\/strong> was quoted in an article in the Atlantic<\/em><\/a> <\/em>(May 9, 2020) on Sidwell Friends School and its sense of fiscal responsibility in receiving governmental grants during the COVID-19 crisis. He also published an essay, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Inspiring Readings of the Inspired Text \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Taking the Bible Seriously After the Manner of Friends,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in Quaker Religious Thought <\/em>#134, and his essays, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Something Greater than the Temple is Here,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Jesus Appeared: the Easter Resurrection\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153He Descended into Hell \u00e2\u20ac\u201c The Ultimate in Social Distancing,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were published on the Psalm 91 web blog. In addition, his challenge to Hugo Mendez and Candida Moss, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153On Biblical Forgeries and Imagined Communities \u00e2\u20ac\u201c A Critical Analysis of recent Criticism,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published by Bible and Interpretation<\/em>. Paul also preached two Zoom sermons for Spokane Friends Church in April and May, and he spoke at the McMinnville Presbyterian Church on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153A Quest for Jesus \u00e2\u20ac\u201c One that Includes the Gospel of John. He also published an essay, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Elizabeth Fry \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Prison Reformer and Quaker of Note,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in Quakers, Social Work, and Justice Concerns <\/em>(Volume 7 in the FAHE Quakers and the Disciplines Series, of which Paul is the founding editor in chief). Finally, his essay \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Receiving Holy Callings, Becoming Wholly Responsive\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published by the Oikonomia Network<\/em>.
