The webinar shared the same title as an article Kevin published last summer in the <em>Journal of Christian Teaching and Practice<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jillian Sokso<\/strong> (Department of Art and Design) exhibited her work at the 2018 Screenprint Biennial at the Opalka Gallery in Albany, New York. Her work was also recently featured in The Printed Image exhibition at the Alice C. Sabatini Gallery in Topeka, Kansas, and appears in the Forgman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Print Workshop Invitational Exchange Portfolio Exhibition at the Weber Fine Arts at the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska (an exhibit traveling internationally until 2021 to various galleries and venues). Jillian was also invited to teach at the internationally renowned Frogman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Press Intensive Workshops in Omaha as a guest instructor, and to teach and work as an artist in residence at the Grand Marais Arts Colony in Grand Marais, Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jenny Song&#8217;s<\/strong> (Department of Professional Studies) article, &#8220;Understanding Face and Shame: A Servant-Leadership and Face Management Model,&#8221; was accepted for publication in the <em>Journal of Pastoral Care and Counseling<\/em>. Jenny and colleagues Larry Spears, Shann Ferch and Dung Tran are working on an anthology, titled <em>Servant-Leadership and Forgiveness<\/em>. SUNY has accepted their book proposal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ben Hartley<\/strong> (College of Christian Studies\/William Penn Honors Program) had two articles published in October, both on the topic of history of mission among migrants and refugees. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Saving Students: European Student Relief in the Aftermath of WWI\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published in the <em>International Bulletin of Mission Research<\/em>. The second article, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153On the Move: 200 Years of Methodist Mission among Migrants and Refugees,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published in the <em>New World Outlook<\/em>, a United Methodist mission magazine.\u00c2\u00a0The issue commemorates the 200th anniversary of that denomination\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s missionary society.<\/p>\n<p>Over the summer, Ben also presented a paper at the Oxford Institute for Methodist Theological Studies in Oxford, England. The paper focused on the history of the first Protestant missionaries to Oregon in the late 1830s \u00e2\u20ac\u201c specifically, the journals of Henry Perkins, who did Bible translation work among Native Americans along the Columbia River near The Dalles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed Higgins\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/strong> (English Faculty Emeritus) prose piece, &#8220;Sappho,&#8221; was published in the online magazine\u00c2\u00a0<em>Ekphrastic Review<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0on Oct. 26.\u00c2\u00a0Also, a haiku of Ed\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153apple orchard\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is in the Autumn 2018 issue of the\u00c2\u00a0<em>Wales Haiku Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sarah Stevenson<\/strong> and <strong>Patty Vanier<\/strong> (Library) coauthored <a href=\"https:\/\/digitalcommons.georgefox.edu\/tcl\/vol61\/iss2\/4\/\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Creative Strategies for Effective and Engaging Student Employee Training: Helping Student Employees Engage, Grow, and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcBe Known,\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/a>an article published in the Fall 2018 issue of <em>The Christian Librarian<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kevin Jones (Department of Communication, Journalism, and Cinematic Arts) was invited by the Christianity and Communication Studies Network (CCSN) to host a webinar titled &#8220;Faith Integration as Servant Leadership in the Communication College Classroom.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0Kevin spoke live for 45 minutes and then responded to a question-and-answer period from webinar attendees.
