{"id":54563,"date":"2018-08-06T10:03:17","date_gmt":"2018-08-06T18:03:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/?p=54563"},"modified":"2018-08-06T10:03:17","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T18:03:17","slug":"about-our-people-223","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/2018\/08\/06\/about-our-people-223\/","title":{"rendered":"About Our People"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jekabs Bikis<\/strong> (College of Business) presented a poster, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Perceived value of ACBSP accreditation among George Fox University graduate business students,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the annual meeting of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools &amp; Programs (ACBSP) in Kansas City, Missouri, June 8-10.\u00c2\u00a0Jekabs\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 poster was awarded the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Best Poster in Conference.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Otto<\/strong> (History) and undergraduate student Paul Schroeder play-tested their game, &#8220;The Origins of Apartheid and the Birth of African Resistance, 1935-1936,&#8221; at the annual Reacting to the Past Game Development Conference at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, on July 12. Paul Otto also work-shopped another game, &#8220;Debating the Great Trek, 1835-1837,&#8221; at the same conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicole M. Enzinger<\/strong> (Education) published an article, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Grade 5 Children&#8217;s Drawings for Integer Addition and Subtraction Open Number Sentences,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in\u00c2\u00a0<em>The Journal of Mathematical Behavior<\/em>. The classifications of the drawings produced by children challenge traditional models for teaching integer addition and subtraction in school mathematics.\u00c2\u00a0She also recently returned from Ume\u00c3\u00a5, Sweden, where she presented a paper, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Prospective Teachers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Explanations for Integer Word Problems,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the\u00c2\u00a0Psychology of Mathematics Education Conference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brandon Waybright<\/strong> (Art and Design) took part in an exhibit, titled\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Reading Wall,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the Palm Springs Art\u00c2\u00a0Museum in Palm Springs, California, in March and April and also exhibited a table of his original publications at the Otis Art Book Fair, an international juried event held at Otis College of Art &amp; Design in Los\u00c2\u00a0Angeles on July 21-22. He was also an exhibitor at this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Crafty Wonderland, a juried event held at\u00c2\u00a0the Portland Convention Center in May. Looking ahead, he will present a paper, &#8220;History from the Ground Up: The Zine as Model for a More Inclusive Design History,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at SECAC\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s (formerly the Southeastern College Art Conference) meeting in Birmingham, Alabama, Oct. 17-20. SECAC is a national college art organization with a yearly peer-review and juried conference. He will also publish an abstract,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Future is not Flat: Developing Pedagogical Tools that Prepare Design Students for a Multi-Sensory and Multi-Dimensional World,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0at Decipher, the American Institute of Graphic Arts\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 educator\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s conference in Detroit Sept. 27-29. AIGA is the largest national organization for graphic design professionals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Anderson<\/strong> (Christian studies) presented\u00c2\u00a0a\u00c2\u00a0plenary session TED Talk, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Spirituality of Jesus,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at\u00c2\u00a0Experiencing Life with God: An Academic Conference Celebrating the Pioneering Contributions of Richard Foster and Dallas Willard, at Westmont College in May. He also presented a workshop,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Spirituality of Jesus,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the Richard Foster conference he organized,\u00c2\u00a0\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Celebrating 40 Years of\u00c2\u00a0<em>The Celebration of Discipline<\/em> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Empowering Spiritual Transformation in the Local Church,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0on the George Fox campus in June. He also presented \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The John, Jesus, and History Project and a Fourth Quest for Jesus\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the Society of New Testament Studies meetings in Athens, Greece, in August. In addition, he participated in an advanced seminar on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Economic Systems in Christian Perspectives,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d sponsored by the Oikonomia Network, at Biola University in May. Finally, the book he coedited,\u00c2\u00a0<em>The Literary Devices in John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Gospel; Revised and Expanded Edition<\/em>, by David Wead, was published as Volume #7 in the <em>Johannine Monograph Series<\/em> (which Paul co-edits) with Wipf &amp;
