{"id":51576,"date":"2018-02-07T16:55:51","date_gmt":"2018-02-08T00:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/?p=51576"},"modified":"2018-02-07T16:55:51","modified_gmt":"2018-02-08T00:55:51","slug":"fox-fireside-event-feb-15-discusses-afraid-exhibit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/2018\/02\/07\/fox-fireside-event-feb-15-discusses-afraid-exhibit\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Fox @ the Fireside&#8217; event Feb. 15 discusses &#8216;I am afraid&#8217; exhibit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us for the university libraries&#8217;\u00c2\u00a0inaugural \u00e2\u20ac\u2039\u00e2\u20ac\u2039&#8221;Fox @ the Fireside&#8221; event on <strong>Thursday,\u00c2\u00a0Feb. 15<\/strong>, from <strong>3:30 to 4:30 p.m.<\/strong> in the Murdock Learning Resource Center.<\/p>\n<p>Gather around the fireplace with coffee and light refreshments to hear artist <strong>Jennifer Lichtenberg<\/strong> discuss her process and answer questions about her &#8220;I am afraid\u00e2\u20ac\u2039&#8221; \u00e2\u20ac\u2039art \u00e2\u20ac\u2039exhibit on display for Black History Month beginning\u00c2\u00a0Feb. 9.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the exhibit<\/strong><br \/>\nDuring the 2016-17 academic year, the Graduate School of Counseling staff and faculty committed\u00e2\u20ac\u2039 \u00e2\u20ac\u2039themselves\u00e2\u20ac\u2039 \u00e2\u20ac\u2039to a book group, reading through and processing the work of Ta-Nehisi Coates\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 <a href=\"https:\/\/alliance-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo-explore\/fulldisplay?docid=CP71229309370001451&amp;context=L&amp;vid=GFOX&amp;search_scope=gfox_alma&amp;tab=default_tab&amp;lang=en_US\"><em>Between the World and Me<\/em><\/a>. In the book, Coates addresses what it means to inhabit an African American body in today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s America.
