Other universities presenting included Stanford, Whittier, Wesleyan, Princeton, Michigan State, Auburn and BYU-Hawaii. George Fox was the first university in Oregon to implement Handshake for internship and job postings in October 2016. Fourteen other Oregon colleges and universities are joining the network on July 1. Kaitlyn has become an expert in Handshake and presented \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Using Experiences to Track Internships\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the conference.<\/p>\n<p>Led by the efforts of <strong>Merrill Johnson<\/strong>, <strong>Alex Rolfe<\/strong> and <strong>Rodney Birch<\/strong> (Library), the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcommons.georgefox.edu\/\">Digital Commons<\/a> is now a repository for <em>The Christian Librarian<\/em>, the official publication of the Association of Christian Librarians organization. The addition to the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s digital archives system makes the publication discoverable via search engines and more accessible to readers worldwide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed Higgins<\/strong> (English) spent all four Sundays in May teaching an adult Sunday school class at the First Presbyterian Church in Newberg. The title of his class was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153My favorite narratives from the Hebrew Bible: Ruth, Esther, Susanna and Joseph.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In addition, <em>Three Line Poetry<\/em> featured one of Ed\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s previously published poems on its Facebook page, and his poem \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Via Dolorosa\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was featured in a recent issue of\u00c2\u00a0the online literary magazine <em>Embers Igniting<\/em>. Also, Ed\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s poem \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Epistemology\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was reprinted in the collection <em>Peace Poems: Celebrating 60 Years of New Jersey Peace Action (1957-2017)<\/em>. The poem was\u00c2\u00a0previously a part of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Speak Peace,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d a three-year national tour and exhibition sponsored by Kent State University\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Wick Poetry Center, which paired Vietnamese children\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s art with peace-related poems by several American writers. The poem has also been published in\u00c2\u00a0<em>Friends Journal<\/em>, <em>Poets Against War<\/em> and the <em>George Fox Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Craig Taylor<\/strong> and <strong>Blair Cash<\/strong> (Athletics) were among seven individuals honored with the Northwest Conference&#8217;s Distinguished Service Award this month. The award goes to those with longtime associations with the conference and its member schools who either moved on to other endeavors, recently retired or announced their impending retirements. Craig is set to retire this summer after serving as athletic director at George Fox since 1988 and working at the school for 43 years. Blair formerly served as sports information director at George Fox (1999 to 2014) and took over as the assistant commissioner\/SID for the NWC in 2014-15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Anderson<\/strong> (Christian Studies) preached at Whittier Friends Church (April 2), spoke on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Seeing the Word of God\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for <em>The Saint John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Bible<\/em> Exhibit and Special Lecture at Azusa Pacific University (April 18), and delivered the inaugural New Testament lecture for UCLA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Center for the Study of Religion (April 25): \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Spirituality of Jesus in the New Millennium \u00e2\u20ac\u201c A Fourth Quest for Jesus.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Also, his forward to Volume 4 in the Johannine Monograph Series was published by Wipf &amp; Stock: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Peder Borgen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <em>Bread from Heaven<\/em> \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Midrashic Developments in John 6 as a Case Study in John\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Unity and Disunity.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Paul&#8217;s essay, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Power of the Resurrection,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published on the Huffington Post site on Easter morning, and his sixth review of CNN\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Finding Jesus\u00e2\u20ac\u009d series, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153On Thomas and Evidence \u00e2\u20ac\u201c No Doubt!,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published by <em>The Bible and Interpretation<\/em>. Finally, his review of four chapters in <em>Early Quakers and their Theological Thought, 1647-1743<\/em>, and a tribute, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Remembering Arthur O. Roberts,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were published in <em>Quaker Religious Thought<\/em>. A second tribute, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Remembering John Punshon (1935-2017),\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was published in <em>Quaker Life<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nicole M. Enzinger<\/strong> (Education) coauthored an article, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2227-7102\/7\/2\/45\">&#8220;Examining Pinterest as a Curriculum Resource for Negative Integers: An Initial Investigation,&#8221;<\/a> with Josh T. Hertel, from the mathematics department at the University Wisconsin-LaCrosse. The piece, published on the Education Sciences site, provides an overview of their research describing the mathematical integrity of integer Pinterest pins.
