Buie, Ann Arbor Art Center (Michigan).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Anderson<\/strong> (Christian Studies) recently served as an external evaluator for a\u00c2\u00a0PhD\u00c2\u00a0thesis at the Radboud University of Nijmegen, where, on his visit to the Netherlands, he gave a lecture on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Central Message of the New Testament\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the university. Paul also published eight essays on the subject of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Truth and Liberation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d last fall on\u00c2\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/author\/panderso-792\">Huffington Post site<\/a>, and he participated (along with <strong>Leah Payne<\/strong>, <strong>Carole Spencer<\/strong>, <strong>Jon Kershner<\/strong> and others) in a review of\u00c2\u00a0<em>Early Quakers and their Theological Thought<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0at the Quaker Theological Discussion Group Meetings in San Antonio in November. He also chaired two sessions of the John, Jesus, and History Group at the National Society of Biblical Literature meetings, concluding the fifth and final triennium of that international project. Finally, he contributed four essays for\u00c2\u00a0<em>Following Jesus in the Way of Peace<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0for the peace-month emphasis of Northwest Yearly Meeting, featured among the churches in January 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Two of <strong>Ed Higgins<\/strong>\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (English) poems, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153From This Distance\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We nearly always,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were published in the latest issue of <em>These Fragile Lilacs Poetry Journal<\/em> (Vol. II, Issue II, Spring 2017). The online journal is released biannually, in January and July, and specializes in showcasing \u00e2\u20ac\u0153strong poetry that illuminates whatever is true, whatever is beautiful, whatever is revelatory, and whatever goes otherwise unnoticed about the world in which we live,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d according to editor-in-chief Laura Hanna. Ed also had his haiku, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153angling sunlight,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d published in the current <em>World Haiku Review<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0(Winter, January 2017), where it rated a place in the &#8220;Haiku of Merit&#8221; section.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Otto<\/strong> (History) published \u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcThis is that which \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 they call Wampum\u00e2\u20ac\u2122: Europeans Coming to Terms with Native Shell Beads\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in <em>Early American Studies 15<\/em>, No. 1 (Winter 2017): 1-36.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin T. Jones<\/strong> (Department of Communication, Journalism and Cinematic Arts) published a chapter, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Teaching the Value of Narratives in Speeches Through Analysis of Presidential Campaign Discourse,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in a new book, <em>Great Ideas for Teaching Students in Communication<\/em>, available this year.
