Anderson Campbell<\/strong>, Steve Sherwood<\/strong> and members of the College of Christian Studies staff teamed up to publish a book, Praying for Justice: A Lectionary for Christian Concern<\/em>, released in mid-December. The title contains an invitation to pray for justice, but the book contains no overt prayers. Many of the more than 1,400 Bible passages featured are prayers or portions of prayers. The book invites readers to use each day\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s verse as a meditation or reflection for that day and each week\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s quotation as an examination of the ways in which his or her life reflects God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s redemptive justice in the world. It is available for preorder at barclaypress.com<\/a>, with all proceeds going to Church World Service to aid in its work resettling refugees and advocating for immigrant and refugee rights in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Ed Higgins<\/strong> (English) published his poem \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Nativity\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the Dec. 16 issue of the Irish online journal Idler<\/em>. In addition, his poem \u00e2\u20ac\u0153moon\/light\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is in the print poetry journal The Laughing Dog <\/em>(Issue No. 25, 2016).<\/p>\n

Kenn Willson<\/strong> (Music) will present his \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Encounters with Beethoven\u00e2\u20ac\u009d piano concert on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Unity of the Valley church in Eugene, Oregon. The 3 p.m. presentation is free and open to the public.
