While they are not a part of the student&#8217;s permanent record, they are important to pay attention to. In some cases, midterm grades represent about half the grade in the course. Students who have questions should check with their professors. It is vital to know where you stand in each of your classes.<\/p>\n<p>Midterm grades are meant to encourage students to get in touch with others: your professors, your advisor, your Career &amp; Academic Planning Coach, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/arc\/index.html\">Academic Resource Center<\/a>, etc. The <strong>worst<\/strong> thing to do about midterm grades is to ignore them or to assume you can improve them on your own.<\/p>\n<p>Professors <strong>do<\/strong> want to meet with you. Do not hesitate to make an appointment with each of them.<\/p>\n<p>Midterm grades were due <strong>Sunday, March 6<\/strong>. Students should check midterm grades now if they haven&#8217;t already.<\/p>\n<p>To check your midterm grades in MyGFU:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Click on &#8220;Self-Service&#8221;\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Click on &#8220;Enrollment&#8221;\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Click on &#8220;View My Grades&#8221;\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Click on the correct term\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Click on the &#8220;Mid-Term Grades&#8221; ta<\/strong>b<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you do not see a &#8220;Midterm Grades&#8221; tab, it is likely none of your professors have entered any midterm grades for you. Please contact your professors to find out what your grades are.<\/p>\n<p>Students, now you need to determine what to do next:\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8 Contact your professors. Faculty are not required to enter midterm grades. You are advised to check with each of your professors about your status in their class. Consider whether to withdraw from one or more courses if it looks likely that you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll get an F (or maybe even a D).<\/p>\n<p>The last date to withdraw is <strong>Sunday, March 20<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can usually go below being enrolled in 12 credit hours (at this point in the semester) without impacting your financial aid or housing. However, you should contact representatives in these departments to be certain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Residence Life \u00e2\u20ac\u201c <strong>Dave Johnstone<\/strong> (<a href=\"mailto:djohnstone@georgefox.edu\">djohnstone@georgefox.edu<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Student Financial Aid (<a href=\"mailto:sfs@georgefox.edu\">sfs@georgefox.edu<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Withdrawal results in a &#8220;W&#8221; on your transcript but does not factor into GPA. If you were to get an F, it would impact GPA.<\/p>\n<p>Confirm any thoughts of withdrawing from classes with your advisor. Meet with each professor, especially those teaching courses you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re struggling in. Even if your professor doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t post midterm grades, find out from the professor what your grade is.<\/p>\n<p>Meet with your advisor to discuss options and use labs, help sessions and the ARC.<\/p>\n<p>If you think you might have a learning disability, have some assessment done.
