Candidates are those who are enthusiastic about helping fellow graduate and adult degree students understand the components of effective writing.<\/p>\n<p>Portland Writing Center consultants are current adult degree-completion and graduate students who work four to eight hours\u00c2\u00a0per week meeting with students in face-to-face or online sessions at the Portland Writing Center. Writing consultant duties include helping students with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thinking through ideas for a writing assignment<\/li>\n<li>Considering writing choices with regard to audience, focus, purpose, cohesion and organization<\/li>\n<li>Developing ideas with specific evidence<\/li>\n<li>Improving research strategies<\/li>\n<li>Applying proper documentation and formatting, and<\/li>\n<li>Understanding basic grammar and mechanics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1UodH1Mh2OwS1pW5KYsaRqINFLNke-IZQrkXhfJG_c6E\/edit\">here<\/a> for a consultant job description, and click <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/a\/georgefox.edu\/file\/d\/0B13Oplmq-snhNVdmVC1IVng4ZGM\/view\">here<\/a> for a consultant application.
