Come support our theatre students at this fall’s comedy presentation of Moliere’s Tartuffe<\/em>, directed by Rhett Luedtke<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Performances are in Wood-Mar Auditorium<\/strong> on Oct. 22-24<\/strong> and Oct. 29 through Nov. 1<\/strong>. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> with the exception of the Sunday, Nov. 1 show, scheduled as a 2 p.m.<\/strong> matinee.<\/p>\n

Synopsis<\/strong>: Tartuffe<\/em> was originally banned from the theatre when it was first performed in 1664 and has been delighting audiences ever since. Tartuffe, a slick, religious charlatan, dupes Orgon, a rich family man, into believing that Tartuffe is deeply concerned for Orgon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s eternal salvation. Orgon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s family members see through the charade and do all they can to open Orgon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s eyes, but to no avail.<\/p>\n

When Orgon promises Tartuffe his daughter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s hand in marriage, and the keys to his house, Elmire (Orgon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s wife) concocts a daring plan to open Orgon\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s eyes once and for all. One of Moliere\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s most celebrated comedies, Tartuffe<\/em> has historically been loathed by religious hypocrites, but celebrated by the wise.<\/p>\n

Tickets are $6 for students, or free for students on Oct. 22 and 29. Employees are entitled to one complimentary ticket. Please bring your student or employee ID to the door when you attend the show.<\/strong> Additional tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 or older, and $6 for children under 12.<\/p>\n
