The awards were announced at the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s end-of-semester awards ceremony on May 4.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rodger Bufford<\/strong> and <strong>Nancy Thurston<\/strong> (Graduate Psychology) joined George Fox PsyD students in presenting posters at the Western Psychological Association\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s annual meeting in Portland April 25-26. Both professors presented \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Are shame and depression related? Understanding their dynamics\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Evaluating the relationship between empathy and shame.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Rodger also presented \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Supervision and the APA ethical code: Remediating an oversight.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d He also participated in the American Psychological Association Committee on Accreditation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s site visitor training workshop in Portland.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Rodger and <strong>Mary Peterson<\/strong> (Graduate Psychology) presented \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The role of spiritual\/religious practices in moderating stress among adolescent residential treatment staff\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the annual meeting of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies in Orlando, Fla., April 2-4.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Otto<\/strong> (History) presented a brown-bag talk, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It is the manner amongst us Indians: Wampum and the Origins of Frontier Diplomacy,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, Calif., April 28.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ed Higgins<\/strong> (Writing\/Literature) published two poems, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153on bad days\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153open window,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in\u00c2\u00a0the May 2009 edition of <em>Danse Macabre<\/em>, a Nevada Arts Council-winning online literary journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dave Covington<\/strong> (Graduate Admissions\/Boise Center) received the Dean\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Award for graduating at the top of his class at Corban College, where he earned an MBA on May 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dee Small (Seminary) was named the university\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Support Staff Person of the Year, while Sheila Abercrombie (IT) was chosen Administrator of the Year.
