While they are not a part of your permanent record they are important to pay attention to.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, mid-term grades represent about half your grade in the course. If you have questions, you should check with your professors. It is vital to know where you stand in each of your classes.<\/p>\n<p>Midterm grades are meant to encourage you to get in touch with others: your professor, your advisor, your CAP Coach (Career &amp; Academic Planning Coach), the <a title=\"The ARC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/idea-center\/students\/academic-success\/arc\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Academic Resource Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>WORST<\/strong> thing to do about midterm grades is to ignore them or to assume you can improve them on your own.<\/p>\n<p>Professors DO want to meet with you. Do not hesitate to make an appointment with each of them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Midterm grades are due by Sunday, March 8.<\/strong> You should plan to check your midterm grades after this date.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To check your mid-term grades in <a title=\"MYGFU\" href=\"https:\/\/mygfu.georgefox.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">MyGFU<\/a>:\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CLICK ON SELF-SERVICE<\/li>\n<li>CLICK ON ENROLLMENT<\/li>\n<li>CLICK ON VIEW MY GRADES<\/li>\n<li>CLICK ON THE CORRECT TERM<\/li>\n<li>CLICK ON THE MID-TERM GRADES TAB<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now you need to determine what to do next: \u00e2\u20ac\u00a8Contact your professors. Faculty are not required to enter midterm grades. You are advised to check with each of your professors about your status in their class.<\/p>\n<p>Consider whether to withdraw from one or more courses if it looks likely that you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll get an F (or maybe even a D).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The last date to withdraw is Sunday, March 22.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can usually go below being enrolled in 12 credit hours (at this point in the semester) without impacting your financial aid or housing. However, you should contact representatives in these departments to be certain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Residence Life: Dave Johnstone, <a href=\"mailto:\/\/djohnstone@georgefox.edu\" target=\"_blank\">djohnstone@georgefox.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Student Financial Services: <a href=\"mailto:\/\/sfs@georgefox.edu\" target=\"_blank\">sfs@georgefox.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Withdrawal results in a &#8220;W&#8221; on your transcript but does not factor into GPA.\u00e2\u20ac\u00a8<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you were to get an F, it would impact GPA. Confirm any thoughts of withdrawing from classes with your advisor.<\/p>\n<p>Meet with each professor, especially those teaching courses you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re struggling in. Even if your professor doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t post mid-term grades, find out from the professor what your grade is.<\/p>\n<p>Meet with your advisor to discuss options.<\/p>\n<p>Use <a title=\"Labs\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/idea-center\/students\/academic-success\/arc\/tutoring\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">labs<\/a>, <a title=\"Tutoring Services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/idea-center\/students\/academic-success\/arc\/tutoring\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">help sessions<\/a> and the <a title=\"The ARC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/idea-center\/students\/academic-success\/arc\/appointments.html\" target=\"_blank\">ARC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you think you might have a learning disability, have some assessment done. Contact the <a title=\"Health and Counseling Center\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/maps_locations\/inter_map\/offices\/woodward_hs.html\" target=\"_blank\">Health and Counseling Center<\/a> at 503-554-2340 or stop by their office on South River Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plan well for spring semester.
