Sahner, author of <em>Among the Ruins: Syria Past and Present<\/em> (Oxford University Press, 2014), will speak on campus at <strong>7:30 p.m. <\/strong>this<strong> Thursday, Oct. 30<\/strong>, in <strong>Hoover 103<\/strong>. The campus community is invited to attend at no charge.<\/p>\n<p>Sahner&#8217;s lecture, &#8220;The End of Christianity in Syria?,&#8221; will explore the roots of Christianity in Syria and seek to place the current predicament in historical perspective. The William Penn Honors Program is sponsoring the event, and a reception for prospective students interested in the honors program will follow. In addition, a special &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/college-admissions\/visit\/honors-visits.html\">Visit Day for the Honors Program<\/a>&#8221; is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31. Please email <a href=\"mailto:honors@georgefox.edu\">honors@georgefox.edu<\/a> if you would like more information or have any questions.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, Sahner is currently completing his doctorate at Princeton, focusing on relations between Muslims and Christians in the formative period after the Arab conquests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Christian C.
