Jones<\/strong> (Communication Arts) and <strong>Carol Brazo<\/strong> (Education) published \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Cultivating a community of truth through critical pedagogy when faced with resistance: teaching my gender students how to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153ride the bus\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the March 2014 edition of the <em>International Journal of Innovation, Education and Research<\/em>, published in the United Kingdom. The essay explores how to face resistance from students in the classroom on controversial topics through critical pedagogy.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin also took five communication arts students to present research papers at the Northwest Communication Association annual conference April 17-19, in Coeur d&#8217;Alene, Idaho. Junior Zach Baker presented his essay \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Using LMX Theory to examine group experience and trust.&#8221; Juniors Ariel Hortert and Allison Walsh presented their paper on \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Recognition of non-verbal warmth, self-disclosure and the effect on closeness in various relationships.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jones served as critic and responded to a panel titled \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Rhetorical agents of change.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Also attending the conference were sophomore Bethany Widdicombe and first-year student LaQuae Aughtman.<\/p>\n<p>Two of <strong>Ed Higgins\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/strong> (English) poems, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153To Do Reminders\u00e2\u20ac\u0153 and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the dung beetle,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d are published in the April issue of <em>Gutter Eloquence<\/em>, an online poetry journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Sherwood<\/strong> (Christian Studies) wrote a blog post, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.missioalliance.org\/anointing-at-bethany\/\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Anointing at Bethany and the Internet Age,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/a> for the Missio Alliance&#8217;s website, appearing on April 16.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kevin T.
