The School of Physical Therapy invites the university community to hear Dr. Diane Wrisley<\/strong>, PT, PhD, NCS to George Fox University this Thursday, March 13, 5pm \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 7 pm<\/strong> in Hoover 105<\/strong>. \u00c2\u00a0 She will be speaking about benign paroxysmal positional vertigo<\/strong>, a disorder affecting balance.<\/p>\n

Dr. Wrisley received her BS in physical therapy from the University at Buffalo, a MS from Old Dominion University and a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University.\u00c2\u00a0 Her research interests include the use of sensory information for balance and novel techniques in the evaluation and treatment of vestibular and balance dysfunction.
\nDr. Wrisley is one of PT\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s finest educators. \u00c2\u00a0 Some of the learning objectives for the lecture are:
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 Briefly describe the anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 Briefly describe the pathophysiology of BPPV
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 Describe the evaluation and intervention techniques for BPPV
\n\u00e2\u20ac\u00a2 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 Relate new findings in the evaluation and treatment for BPPV<\/p>\n
