There is no charge to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The lecture will be preceded by a Richter Scholars Symposium beginning at <strong>5 p.m.<\/strong> in the Hoover lobby (food will be served). The Richter Scholars program enables undergraduate and graduate students to receive funding for independent research projects conducted with a faculty mentor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lecture Description<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What connection does Miley Cyrus have to the Google algorithm? Badley argues that cultural trends have changed how we think, what knowledge we value, and how we judge wisdom. Our obsession with celebrities, our immersion in digital technology, and our high-irony combine to leave us wondering what is worthwhile and who will guide our steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong> About Ken Badley<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Badley, recipient of the university&#8217;s 2013 Faculty Award for Excellence in Research\/Scholarship at the graduate level, serves in George Fox\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s doctoral program in education.
