It will take place from <strong>3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26,<\/strong> in <strong>EHS 102<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This presentation will discuss the main reasons why renewable energy is such an important topic in the world today and review the latest research from Stillinger in the areas of ocean wave energy and micro-hydro turbines for developing countries.<\/p>\n<p>Stillinger received his bachelor&#8217;s degree in mechanical engineering from George Fox in 2004 and his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Oregon State University in 2011. He worked in industry as a professional controls engineer for three years designing, testing and implementing custom control systems for companies such as Boeing, Weyerhaeuser and ADASA.<\/p>\n<p>He then joined the Wallace Energy Systems and Renewables Facility (WESRF) wave energy team in 2007 and has helped design, build and test more than five different wave energy converters in collaboration with Columbia Power Technologies.
