For the months of November and December the Portland Center Library is pleased to present the art work of Kathleen Jones.<\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n Kathleen says:<\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n “Throughout my life, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been attracted to art in its many forms.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve worked with stained glass, mosaic, pottery, interior\/landscape design, drawing, floral design, costume\/set design, and even floats.\u00c2\u00a0 Although I enjoyed each of these mediums and still pursue most of them, I sought for an expression which was my own.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n Seven years ago, I enrolled in a painting class at George Fox.\u00c2\u00a0 Prior to this class, my painting was limited to murals and objects until I decided to experiment with oils.\u00c2\u00a0 The first brushstroke on the canvas was instant love; in that moment, I knew I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d found the media I was searching for.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n Ever since then, I paint nearly everyday.\u00c2\u00a0 I love the feel of oil on canvas and the way the paint moves and blends.\u00c2\u00a0 Oils can be soft without a noticeable brushstroke or dramatic with harsh strokes.\u00c2\u00a0 I love this versatility of expression which they provide.<\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n My love for nature and the experiences of hiking in the woods of Oregon and Glacier National Park provide the inspiration for these pieces.\u00c2\u00a0 The wonder of such landscapes is difficult to express either in words on paper or with paint on a canvas.\u00c2\u00a0 Time after time, the sight of an unexpected vista surprises and fills me with a sense of the goodness of God and the goodness of the world around me.\u00c2\u00a0 In these moments, I come to understand more deeply that we are created to love and respond to beauty.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n \u00c2\u00a0<\/font><\/p>\n I strive for a feeling of peace in my paintings.”<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" st1\\:*{behavior:url(#default#ieooui) } For the months of November and December the Portland Center Library is pleased to present the art work of Kathleen Jones. \u00c2\u00a0 Kathleen says: \u00c2\u00a0 “Throughout my life, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been attracted to art in its many forms.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve worked with stained glass, mosaic, pottery, interior\/landscape design, drawing, floral design, costume\/set design, and even […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2300","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"yoast_head":"\n
