{"id":22594,"date":"2014-01-08T09:34:24","date_gmt":"2014-01-08T17:34:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/?p=22594"},"modified":"2014-01-08T09:34:24","modified_gmt":"2014-01-08T17:34:24","slug":"mark-ankeny-discusses-schools-early-history-at-friday-lunch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.georgefox.edu\/ennounce\/2014\/01\/08\/mark-ankeny-discusses-schools-early-history-at-friday-lunch\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Ankeny discusses school&#8217;s early history at Friday lunch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The university&#8217;s Auxiliary will present the third installment of its lunch lecture series \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Reflections on Pacific College\/GFC\/GFU\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s His\u00c2\u00adtory\u00e2\u20ac\u009d at <strong>noon<\/strong> tomorrow (<strong>Friday<\/strong>) in the <strong>Cap and Gown Room<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Longtime professor and 1975 George Fox alumnus <strong>Mark Ankeny<\/strong>, who has also served as the dean of the College of Education at both Pacific University and Westminster College (Utah), will discuss the early history of Pacific College\/George Fox College.<\/p>\n<p>Among the topics to be covered are the college\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s vision for a Quaker school, the presidencies of Levi Pennington (1911-1941) and Emmett Gulley (1941-1947), and how the college survived during its early period.<\/p>\n<p>Cost for lunch is $8.50 and must be paid at the door. Reservations, which can be made by calling Judy Woolsey at 503-538-7314, are required.<\/p>\n<p>The next installment of the series, in which <strong>David Le Shana<\/strong> will cover the period between 1969 and 1982, is scheduled for Friday, March 14.
