Preble, the vice president for defense and foreign policy studies at the CATO Institute, will visit George Fox on <strong>Wednesday, March 14<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A guest of George Fox\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Department of History and Political Science, Preble will speak from <strong>7 to 8 p.m.<\/strong> in <strong>Hoover 105<\/strong>. The topic of his session is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Solving America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Power Problem: Why a More Modest Foreign Policy and a Smaller Military Will Keep us Safe and Free.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Preble, an author and media personality who has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NPR and the BBC, among other media outlets, was a commissioned officer for the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Ticonderoga from 1990 to 1993. Most recently, he authored the book <em>The Power Problem: How American Military Dominance Makes Us Less Safe, Less Prosperous and Less Free<\/em>, in which he argues and documents the enormous costs of America\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s military power, and poses a new grand strategy to advance U.S. security.<\/p>\n<p>The Cato Institute, based in Washington D.C., is a public policy research organization \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a think tank \u00e2\u20ac\u201c dedicated to the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets and peace.
