Now is the time to take an assessment of your perception of how you are doing in each of your classes.<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE read this message CAREFULLY!<\/p>\n<p>Mid-term grades, while not a part of your final semester grade report, are an important indicator of how you are doing academically.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-term grades are meant to encourage students to get in touch with their professors.<\/p>\n<p>There are many resources here at GFU to get you the help you need to be academically successful. If you don&#8217;t know what these resources are, please contact me.<\/p>\n<p>Professors will be entering their mid-term grades on Wednesday, March 7, through Friday, March 9.<\/p>\n<p>After March 9, you can view your grades in MYGFU if a mid-semester grade has been entered.<\/p>\n<p>If you do not have a grade entered, then your professor has NOT entered a mid-term grade for you. This could be for a variety of reasons.<\/p>\n<p>We STRONGLY suggest that every student contacts their professors (for each class) to see how you are doing in that class.<\/p>\n<p>Log in to <a title=\"MYGFU\" href=\"https:\/\/mygfu.georgefox.edu\/psp\/PA90PRD\/EMPLOYEE\/HRMS\/c\/GFU_CUSTOM.GFU_REDIRECT_HTML.GBL?cmd=login&amp;languageCd=ENG&amp;\">MyGFU<\/a> to find your mid-semester grades (after March 9)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select Student Center<\/li>\n<li>From the Other Academic drop-down (in the Academics section of the start page), select Grades.<\/li>\n<li>Select the term and the Mid-Term Grades tab (next to the Official Grades tab which will be the default display). The Mid-Term Grades tab ONLY appears once at least one grade has been entered for you by an instructor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now you need to determine what to do next:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consider whether to withdraw from one or more courses if it looks likely that you&#8217;ll get an F (or maybe even a D).<\/li>\n<li>Discuss your situation with your advisor and professors.<\/li>\n<li>The last date to withdraw is Sunday, March 18, at 11:59 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can usually go below 12 hours (at this point in the semester) without impacting your financial aid. Please confirm your financial aid status with your <a title=\"Contact Student Financial Services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/sfs\/contact-us.html\" target=\"_blank\">student financial services counselor<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you go below 12 hours and you are an on campus resident, you will need to contact Dave Johnstone, the associate dean of students, to appeal the policy pertaining to 0n-campus residence requirements which states that you must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours to live on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Withdrawal results in a &#8220;W&#8221; on your transcript but does not factor into GPA.<\/p>\n<p>If you were to get an F, it would impact GPA.<\/p>\n<p>If you need any help, or have any questions, contact the <a title=\"Registrar's Office\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgefox.edu\/offices\/registrar\/contacts.html\" target=\"_blank\">registrar&#8217;s office<\/a> or contact me.<br \/>\nJere<\/p>\n<p>Jere Ann Witherspoon<\/p>\n<p>Executive Assistant | Student Life | 503-554-2316<\/p>\n<p>studentlife.georgefox.edu | ds.georgefox.edu<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Believe it or not, the middle of the spring semester is at hand.
