Steve Petzold<\/strong> (Engineering) was named support staff member of the year and Sarah Thomas Baldwin<\/strong> (Spiritual Life) was administrator of the year.<\/p>\n

Cathi Comish<\/strong> (Boise Center Admissions) was named employee of the month for May.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Army Historical Foundation has recognized Kerry Irish\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s<\/strong> (History) article, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Dwight Eisenhower and Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines: There Must Be a Day of Reckoning,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as the winner of the 2010 Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award in the category of Academic Journals and Magazines. Kerry will attend the foundation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s annual meeting on June 12 and will take advantage of the trip to Washington D.C. to do some research in the National Archives.<\/p>\n

Ed Higgins<\/strong> (English) published his poem \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Waning Winter\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the spring 2011 issue of The Greensilk Journal<\/em>, a literary ezine. He also published two poems, \u00e2\u20ac\u015312 Word Poem\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Ohmygod! Eve said,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the April issue of the online literary magazine Clockwise Cat<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Gary Tandy<\/strong> (English) had an article, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153C. S. Lewis and Popular Culture: Echoes of Perelandra in LOST,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d published in the March\/April edition of The Bulletin of The New York C. S. Lewis Society<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Doug Campbell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <\/strong>(Visual Arts) poem, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153To Return,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d appears in the current issue of Windhover: A Journal or Christian Literature<\/em>. He also will have a haiku published on the HSA \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Haiku Wall\u00e2\u20ac\u009d exhibited in the historic Liberty Theatre Gallery at the Quarterly National Haiku Society of America Meeting in Bend on June 3-5. Also, three of his poems \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Journey,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Balancing Act\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Things\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and an acrylic painting, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I Pledge Allegiance to the Fish,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d were part of the Search For Peace Art Festival at St. Pius X Parrish in Portland. Doug also had five linocuts \u00e2\u20ac\u201c \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Lot and his Daughters,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Baptism,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Cain,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Rievaulx Cloister\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Pearl of Great Price\u00e2\u20ac\u009d \u00e2\u20ac\u201c included in the 13th Annual Judeo-Christian Juried Online International Art Exhibition, Upstream People Gallery.<\/p>\n

The inaugural issue of the Journal of Early American History<\/em> has just appeared. Paul Otto<\/strong> (History) is a member of the editorial board and regularly serves as a manuscript reviewer for the publication.<\/p>\n
