The article examines British author Philip Pullman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s fantasy trilogy <em>His Dark Materials<\/em>, the first novel of which, <em>The Golden Compass<\/em>, was released last month as a controversial film for some Christian groups because of the author\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s avowed atheist views.
