Please be mindful of guests when parking Thursday and Friday

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

The undergraduate admissions office is thrilled to welcome 225 students and their families to our annual Scholarship Competition this Thursday and Friday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

Each of you, as you interact with families and students, play an incredible role in helping to determine whether they choose George Fox, so thank you for the part you play in ensuring our families and students feel welcomed and cared for by our community.

In the spirit of hospitality, if you could please avoid parking in the Hoover and Stevens parking lots on Thursday afternoon and Friday to ensure close parking for our guests, that would be great.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kelly Friesen at ext. 2248.

Come to business lecture by owner of Jersey Girl Pizza

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

All are invited to “From the Ground Up: The Recipe for Turning Around a Business” tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. at the Portland Center, Room 155.

This is a special guest talk on the business strategies leveraged to turn a local, failing pizza joint into a thriving business. Walt Porterfield, owner of Jersey Girl Pizza, will discuss his dedication, experience, and innovative process during this turnaround. He will be sharing his strategies and personal recipe for success.

Walt Porterfield purchased a failing pizza restaurant in 2016 in Hillsboro, where yearly sales averaged just $74,000. Two-and-a-half years and many improvements later, yearly sales have increased 6.5 times the original amount and are currently averaging $485,000.

Admission is free. Jersey Girl Pizza will be served (supplies are limited; arrive on time). RSVP here.
