PT needs volunteers for toe study

Wednesday, May 9th, 2018

The big toe is the last part of your body to leave the ground when you walk or run. The physical therapy research team is interested in knowing exactly how strong the muscles are that control the big toe. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to have their toe and calf muscle tested for strength using two, easy to perform measurements.

If you are interested in participating, please call Jamie at 503-803-8096 for further details. Let’s see what you can do!

Help create a resources map for commuter students

Monday, May 7th, 2018

Commuter Life is seeking to promote the great resources we have for commuter students. We are looking to incorporate an interactive map on our website and other mobile-friendly platforms. This map would include items that commuters need/desire at points in their academic journey.

We are hoping to list the following on-campus resources that commuters could use:

  • Microwaves
  • Refrigerators
  • Lactation spaces
  • 24-hour spaces
  • Lounge spaces that don’t require swipe access
  • Free food for students who identify as food insecure
  • Computer access
  • Daytime study spaces

If you have any of these resources that students are encouraged to use in your area/department, please fill out this Google Form.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kristi Welker at kwelker@georgefox.edu. Thank you for helping to meet the unique needs of our commuter students!

Riding a bike to campus? Please pick up an ID sticker

Monday, May 7th, 2018

Security Services will start tagging bikes left on racks this Friday, May 11. This is to help us identify what bikes have been left behind so we can start the removal/storage process in accordance with the new summer bike policy.

We are asking that ALL students and staff who are riding their bikes this summer to please pick up an identification sticker at the security office starting Tuesday. This will ensure that your bicycle is not tagged as abandoned and we don’t accidentally impound your bicycle.

We are working on a new bike registration this summer with a group called “Bike Index” and will have all the information available before school starts. The best part is it’s free.

Thank you for your assistance in this project. Stickers available are between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Questions? Call 503-554-2090.
