Don’t forget tonight’s auditions for ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’

Monday, August 28th, 2017

Calling all thespians! General auditions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be tonight (Tuesday)  from 7 to 10 p.m. in Wood-Mar Auditorium. We will host the first call-back the following evening, Wednesday, from 7 to 10 p.m. and a second call-back on Friday, Sept. 1, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the same location.

What to prepare
For the general audition (Tuesday), please prepare a 90-second comedic monologue from a classical play (preferably Shakespearean). Your monologue should be fully memorized and well rehearsed. Be prepared to work with the director one-on-one after you have performed your monologue.

Sign-up Sheet
In order to secure your audition slot, please sign up on the audition sign-up sheet on the theatre audition board in Lemmons Hall. Students who are not theatre majors/minors are more than welcome to audition. You will not need to prepare a 90-second monologue, but you will need to read/perform a short Shakespearean monologue for the director. Come early, grab a monologue from the audition table, and take a little time to practice before your audition time slot.

Call-backs will feature movement work and cold readings from the text. Also, if you sing or play an instrument, please come ready to share your talents with us.

Show Dates
Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28 at 7:30 p.m., as well as Oct. 29 at 2 p.m.

Rehearsals
In general, rehearsals take place between 7 and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Director Rhett Luedtke will work around your evening conflicts, but you should do what you can to limit those conflicts as much as possible.

Questions?
Please email Rhett at rluedtke@georgefox.edu.

Let’s have fun!

Want to add some fun to your schedule? Consider piano lessons

Monday, August 28th, 2017

The music department offers classes in learning how to play the piano! If this is something you’ve wanted to do but didn’t have the time, consider enrolling in MUSI 135 section A or B.

Section A is for beginners (no previous experience necessary); section B is for students who may have taken lessons but it’s been some time ago and you’d like to brush up. These two sections are meant for non-music majors.

The class is offered at one credit (good for an elective, too). There are still a few openings in both sections, so enroll today!

Questions? Contact Kenn Willson at kwillson@georgefox.edu.
