Social media expert speaks on campus Jan. 22

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

“The Power and Pitfalls of Social Media” will be the topic when Matt Payne of Beaverton-based Social Bridge Media speaks at the monthly Newberg meeting of the Christian Chamber of the Northwest on Tuesday, Jan. 22. The meeting is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Villa Academic Complex.

Info on W-2 forms

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

Many thanks to those of you who have already given your consent to receive your W-2s online. If you haven’t, please consider doing so to enable us to make it available to you sooner, and to make it accessible to you in MyGFU (self-service) when you are ready to print it.

This will save the university the time and expense of purchasing and stuffing paper W-2 forms and envelopes (over 2,000 last January). And of course, it is also friendlier to our environment. In the future, there will be a $5 charge for replacement W-2s issued and mailed in hard copy.

In order to receive a W-2 in online form only (instead of receiving a paper form), the law requires that you give your consent. This should take you only about 30 seconds to do, so I encourage you to take care of it as soon as possible – perhaps right now:

  1. Log in to mygfu.georgefox.edu
  2. From the menu at left, select “Self Service”
  3. Select “Payroll and Compensation”
  4. Select “W-2/W-2c Consent”
  5. Read the statement and check the box to give consent
  6. Enter your GFU password as a confirmation of your identity and click “Continue”
  7. Click OK

You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail of your decision shortly after completing this process. And just to be clear, you will only have to do this once — not every year.

Is your correct/current address on file in HR?

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

Would you please take a minute to check your Dec. 28 pay statement (through MyGFU self-service) to be sure the address on it is correct? If so, you need do nothing. If not, please send an e-mail to hr@georgefox.edu with your current address.

This will ensure that we get this information correct on your W-2 (available by Jan. 31), always a good thing.

The Austins have provided the university with a limited number of tickets for its employees. These tickets are separate from those to be issued by the Newberg Area Chamber of Commerce to the general public.

Now is good time to review your vehicle info with Security Services

Sunday, January 6th, 2013

Staff, faculty and adjuncts: Now is a good time to log on to MyGFU and review your vehicle information to see if it is up to date. Use the minus button to the right of the listing if you no longer have a vehicle, and click on “Add Additional Vehicle” if you need to add a vehicle.

Please e-mail Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu to note any vehicle additions/subtractions so your parking permit assignments can be updated as well on the Security Services database.

Adjuncts: Your parking permits expired Dec. 31, 2012, if you didn’t get an updated one for 2013 in December, so please come to the security office to procure one for 2013 if you will be on contract.

Additional staff/faculty permits are available for just $5 cash each, so save some early-morning frustration and come to the security office for additional permits if needed.

Questions? Call Security Services at 503-554-2090 or e-mail Nadine at the above e-mail address.

Parking Permit Information for Undergraduate Students

Friday, January 4th, 2013

Students who have registered “NOCAR” for fall semester, but are bringing a car back to campus for the spring semester, please follow these steps:

1. Log on to MyGFU and DELETE your “NOCAR” listing by using the minus sign to the right of that listing.

2. Once the boxes are cleared, input your vehicle information and click on OK.

3. Your permit will be sent to Mail Services, and you will need to sign for it there.

PLEASE NOTE: Simply erasing/deleting the “NOCAR” listing and entering vehicle information without using the minus button will NOT work, and your registration will not go through to the security side of the database!

If you are bringing a car to campus temporarily only to move in with, please come to the Security Services office to get a temporary permit at no charge.

Call 503-554-2090 if it is outside office hours, and any officer can make a temporary permit for you.

All vehicles brought to campus must have some type of permit on them.

If you have changed residences from one side of the campus to the other, or moved off-campus over break, you will need to scrape off your parking permit and bring it to the security office during office hours so we can get your registration changed and the proper permit issued. Do the same thing if you are bringing a different car to campus other than what was registered fall semester.

Questions? Call Security during office hours at 503-554-2090, or e-mail Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.

For detailed information about parking on the Newberg campus, please check out this website.
