Register your vehicle/not bring a car status on MyGFU before Jan. 25

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Students:

Whether or not you have a vehicle, you MUST either register your vehicle, or indicate you do NOT have a vehicle on MyGFU before the Add/Drop date of Friday, Jan. 25, to avoid a $25 non-refundable fee for a parking permit.

Please log on to MyGFU and click on “Self Service.” Next click on “University Forms,” and the “Student Vehicle Registration” link will pop up in the middle of the page. Click on that and either input your vehicle information, or check the box “not bringing a vehicle to campus.”

If you registered a vehicle, a permit will be issued and sent to Mail Services where you will sign for it. If you do NOTHING, the fee will be assessed after the Add/Drop date. Parking permits are only $25 per semester, so please don’t delay in getting your vehicle registered!

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

We’re looking for 53 extras for a student film. The film, Timothy TrueLove’s Date With Destiny, is in the style of Wes Anderson films such as Moonrise Kingdom and The Royal Tannenbaums, as well as the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Needed:

  • 15 extras 30 years and older to play a hard, cynical crowd at a comedy club
  • 15 extras to look like hipster college students
  • Six girls to swoon over a body builder
  • Five to six people dressed up for a fancy restaurant
  • Five to six people dressed in vintage 1950s-looking attire
  • Two girls to be friends with one of the lead characters
  • Three extras for a scene at the park
  • We are also looking for a scrawny, pre-teen to play a cop (this will be a minor speaking role)

Free tennis balls up for grabs in Wheeler Sports Center

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Need tennis balls? Come and get them for free in the upper lobby of the Wheeler Sports Center. We have boxes of used tennis balls that have used up their competitive life and are ready for the next phase.

Take a whole box or bring a sack and load up. Your dog will love you for it and so will we.

Please read if you are a current student employee and received pay in 2012

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Many thanks to those of you who have already given your consent to receive your W-2s online. If you haven’t, please consider doing so to enable us to make it available to you sooner, and to make it accessible to you in MyGFU (self service) when you are ready to print it.

This will save the university the time and expense of purchasing and stuffing paper W-2 forms and envelopes (over 2,000 last January). And, of course, it is also friendlier to our environment. In the future, there will be a $5 charge for replacement W-2s issued and mailed in hard copy.

In order to receive a W-2 in online form only (instead of receiving a paper form), the law requires that you give your consent. This should take you only about 30 seconds to do, so I encourage you to take care of it as soon as possible — perhaps right now.

  • Log in to mygfu.georgefox.edu
  • From the menu at left, select “Self Service”
  • Select “Payroll and Compensation”
  • Select “W-2/W-2c Consent”
  • Read the statement and check the box to give consent
  • Enter your GFU password as a confirmation of your identity and click “Continue”
  • Click “OK”

You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail of your decision shortly after completing this process. And just to be clear, you will only have to do this once — not every year.

Thank you,
Melodee Powers (HR)
