Tickets for Oregon Symphony’s Feb. 3 performance available this Monday

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

At 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, George Fox will host the Oregon Symphony in Bauman Auditorium for its 25th appearance in Newberg. The concert is free to George Fox employees – a gift from George Fox board member Ken Austin and his wife, Joan, founders of A-dec.

The Austins have provided the university with a limited number of tickets for its employees. These tickets are separate from those to be issued by the Newberg Area Chamber of Commerce to the general public. George Fox employees (halftime and over) may pick up their tickets – limit two per employee – on a first-come, first-served basis starting Monday, Jan. 23, at 9 a.m. at the first-floor Information Center in the Stevens Center.

Phone reservations will not be taken except for employees at the Portland and Salem centers.

On Friday, Jan. 27, beginning at 9 a.m., any remaining tickets (again, a limit of two per person) will be available – also on a first-come, first-served basis – to those who sign up on a waiting list. If you find you will not be able to attend the concert, please return your tickets for another employee to use.

For more information, contact Vangie Pattison at ext. 2121 or epattison@georgefox.edu.

New recycling information for shredders

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Does your office have a shredder? If so, here is some new recycling information you need to know.

When your shredder is full, what do you do with the paper? If you empty the shredding into a black plastic bag or into the blue recycling bags, it is considered trash and gets thrown out.

In order for us to be better stewards, custodial services is beginning a new program of providing rolls of clear bags for this purpose. When the bag gets full just pull them out, tie them off and place to the side. Then your custodial cleaning crew will be able to collect these bags as recycling and place them in the appropriate bin for pickup.

If your shredder does not currently have any plastic bags, please e-mail custodial at dastlefo@georgefox.edu and we will be sure you get some to you quickly. If you have additional questions about what is recyclable, follow this link to the recycling page on the university’s website.
