Attention student employees!

The last day of October is Monday, Oct. 31. Turn in your October time sheets to your supervisor at the end of your last shift of the month. Be sure your name and ID number is typed or printed legibly at the top, it is complete and accurate, and you have signed it.

Payday is on Tuesday, Nov. 15.  If you forget to turn in your time sheet on time, you may not get paid on the 15th.

October student employee time sheets due in HR

Student supervisors: Payday for student employees is Tuesday, Nov. 15. For us to meet this deadline we need your students’ October time sheets by Thursday, Nov. 3, by 5 p.m. If you are on the Newberg campus, please hand-deliver the time sheets. If you send them with a student, make sure they are in a sealed envelope. Any time sheets received after this deadline may not get paid on the 15th.

Please be sure the student’s name, ID number and cost center number is legible on each one. Also, don’t forget to sign them and be sure the students did as well. Please do not send students to HR to sign their time sheets.

Thanks so much for helping us get our students paid in a timely manner!

Holiday bazaar returns to campus Nov. 4-5

The campus community is invited to the George Fox Auxiliary’s annual holiday bazaar Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5. The event will feature more than 20 artisans selling jewelry, art, crafts, plants and food.

The bazaar will be held in two different buildings. The main bazaar will be held in the Ron Gregory Atrium between Wood-Mar Hall and the Edwards-Holman Science Center on Friday, Nov. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional vendors will be set up in the Hoover Academic Building atrium during the same times. Admission is free.

Bruin Bookstore hosts annual costume contest Monday

We are celebrating our annual costume contest at the Bruin Bookstore on Monday, Oct. 31. Wear you costume to the Bruin Bookstore (nothing scary) and we’ll give you 10 percent off your in-store purchase!

You’ll also be entered into our costume contest. The best costume winner will receive a $20 gift card for purchases at the Bruin Bookstore.

‘Steel Magnolias’ opens Thursday on Wood-Mar stage

The university’s fall show, Steel Magnolias, opens tonight (Thursday) and tickets are available at the box office, now located at the information desk on the first floor of the Stevens Center.

Tonight is free to students, while employees get one complimentary ticket each for any of the performances. The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additional tickets can be purchased in Stevens or online at theatre.georgefox.edu.

The play runs through Saturday this week and resumes next week, Nov. 3-6, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. with the exception of the Sunday, Nov. 6, performance, scheduled as a 2 p.m. matinee.

Joel Perez presents on state of diversity Thursday in Hoover 105

Today (Thursday) at 3:30 p.m. in Hoover 105, Joel Perez, dean of transitions and inclusion, will give a presentation on the state of diversity at George Fox. In this annual presentation he will share what has been happening over the past year as we continue to work on solving institutional systemic issues.

There will also be time for Q&A. If you are not able to attend, the presentation will be recorded and available on iTunesU.

International Club hosts Ping-Pong tournament in November

The International Club is hosting a Ping-Pong tournament beginning Tuesday, Nov. 1, in the Foxhole. Play will take place every Tuesday and Thursday in November, from 7 to 11 p.m. (there will be a game every half-hour, so you don’t need to be there the entire time).

A $50 gift card will go to the winner. A sign-up sheet is posted on the door in the Foxhole, or you can e-mail Kaleb Olsen (olsenk10@georgefox.edu) with your name.

NYC businessman shares expertise Thursday

Interested in learning more about living and working in the business community of New York City? You are invited to join the School of Business in meeting Benny Mah, managing director of The Mathes Company in New York City, today (Thursday), from 2:45 to 4 p.m. in Stevens 109.

At The Mathes Company, Mah manages discretionary portfolios for individual and institutional investors from Asia. He joined the company in 2001. Previously, he worked with Alpha Investment Management, Clariden Asset Management (New York), UBS Asset Management (NYC) and Chase Investors.

How can you do your part for the environment and reduce university expenses? Recycle. George Fox pays for every ton of waste taken to the landfill but does not incur fees for recycling.

Thursday’s passport day is canceled

The U.S.P.S. representative called and will not be available today (Thursday) for passport applications or renewals on the Newberg campus. Unfortunately, he was called away to fill in at another post office for an emergency medical situation.

You can still call to arrange a time to apply or renew your passport at the Dundee Post Office (503-538-8250). Make sure you call ahead of time to confirm that the passport clerk will be available.

Lip Sync Auditions
