Bon Appetit hosts Eat Local Challenge on Tuesday

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

It’s that time again: On Tuesday, Sept. 27, Bon Appetit celebrates and honors our local farmers and ranchers with our seventh annual Eat Local Challenge. On that day, every Bon Appetit cafe across the country will feature meals prepared completely from ingredients from within a 150-mile radius of the cafe … the only exception being salt.

In addition to a delicious and seasonal meal that highlights our local bounty, we hope to raise awareness about some of the issues facing our local farmers and how we can all help to preserve our agricultural heritage.

Here at Fox we will be featuring ingredients from more than 15 different farmers we routinely buy from as we prepare lunch in Klages Dining Room as well as several specials in both the Bruin Den and Villa Cafe.

Be watching on Monday for our menus at cafebonappetit.com.

Little Bruin Applications due!

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Little Bruin Applications are due Friday, Sept. 23, by 5 p.m. in the Christian Services office in the SUB! If you are interested in the program and can’t get your application turned in by then, just send me an e-mail and we can figure something out! You can also mail the application to campus Box #5486.

If you haven’t heard about Little Bruins, it is it is similar to a Big Brother/Big Sister program. It matches a George Fox student with a student of a local elementary or middle school. Students spend one hour each week with their Little Bruin. Many of the children we are reaching come from homes that are a mess; they are struggling with academics, making friends and having someone they can count on. They desperately need the consistency of an adult who believes in them.

If this is on your heart, please apply to be a Big Bruin!
