Mid-Term Grades!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Have you checked your mid-term grade report? Depending upon what you find you need to consider taking some action.

To check your mid-term grades in MYGFU –

      CLICK ON SELF-SERVICE
      CLICK ON ENROLLMENT
      CLICK ON VIEW MY GRADES
      CLICK ON THE CORRECT TERM
CLICK ON THE MID-TERM GRADES TAB

Now you need to determine what to do next:

  • Consider whether to withdraw from one or more courses if it looks likely that you’ll get an F (or maybe even a D).
  • The last date to withdraw is Friday, November 6, at 5 p.m. You can usually go below 12 hours (at this point in the semester) without impacting your financial aid.
  • Withdrawal results in a W on your transcript but does not factor into GPA. If you were to get an F, it would impact GPA.
  • Confirm any thoughts of withdrawing from classes with your advisor.
  • Meet with each professor, especially those teaching courses you’re struggling in.
  • Meet with your advisor to discuss options.
  • Use labs, help sessions, & the ARC.
  • If you think you might have a learning disability, have some assessment done. Contact the Health and Counseling Center at 503-554-2340 or stop by their offices.
  • Plan well for Spring semester.
  • Consider whether you are in the right pathway in terms of a major or career. You might want to enroll in GEED 214: Claim Your Career Calling, a 1-hour online course (see http://www.georgefox.edu/offices/career_services/inactive_pages/careercourses.html) for more information) or meet with someone in the Career Services office.
  • Things to think about:

?How will my decisions impact my ability to graduate on my timeline? (Contact the Registrar’s office for the answer to this question.)

? What (if any) financial impact will my decisions have? (Contact the the Student Financial Services office for the answer to this question.)

? How can I build skills NOW to help me in the future? (Make an appointment with your advisor and the Academic Resource Center.
