As a reminder of the generational categories (I am a boomer = workaholic).<\/p>\n<p>Baby Boomers (Boomers) Born: 1946\u20131964<\/p>\n<p>Generation X (Gen X) &#8211; Born: 1965\u20131980<\/p>\n<p>Millennials (Gen Y) &#8211; Born: 1981\u20131996<\/p>\n<p>Generation Z (Gen Z) -Born: 1997\u20132012<\/p>\n<p>Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha) &#8211; Born: 2013\u20132025 (projected)<\/p>\n<p>The book addresses longer life spans and how, careers, finances, health, and relationships will need to be restructured to fit a longer life, emphasizing the value of flexibility and lifelong learning\u200b.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back over my personal experience.\u00a0 Lifelong learning has been a cornerstone for my perspective in looking forward rather than back. Truly, my educational path has been guided by God (unbeknownst by me).\u00a0 Every academic endeavor has set me up for the next stage of life serving Him.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Signpost &amp; Survey says<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At age 65, I sit on the cusp of my second stage of the retirement (Stage 1 Education, Stage 2 Employment, Stage 3 Retirement)<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>.\u00a0 Collecting Social Security and getting Veterans disability pleasantly adds to the financial pot.<\/p>\n<p>Education \u2013 (1) Bachelors &#8211; Journalism, 4 Masters \u2013 International Studies, TESOL, Global Leadership, Theology and potentially \u2013 Doctorate in Leadership<\/p>\n<p>Employment &#8211; US Army, Missionary in Hungary, University teacher, Post doctorate?<\/p>\n<p>Retirement \u2013 Stage 1 \u2013 University teacher, Stage 2 GoodSports Director Ukraine and Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>The survey on page 244, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.100yearlife.com\">www.100yearlife.com<\/a>\u00a0 confirmed my subconscious thought that I was ready for a fourth stage transition.<\/p>\n<p>Productive assets<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Valuable knowledge &#8211; 4.7\/5<\/li>\n<li>Peers &#8211; 4.5\/5<\/li>\n<li>Reputation- 4\/5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Vitality Assets<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Health &#8211; 3.7\/5<\/li>\n<li>Balanced Living \u2013 3.7<\/li>\n<li>Regenerative Friendships \u2013 5\/5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Transformational Assets<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Self-knowledge \u2013 5\/5<\/li>\n<li>Diverse Networks \u2013 5\/5<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Tangible Assets \u2013 3.9<\/p>\n<p><strong>My average = 4.39 (I asked ChatGPT to do the calculations \u2013 I no longer do math in public) <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>What others are saying<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There are some negative critiques about this book, \u201cLynda Gratton and Andrew Scott\u2019s assumed readership is one in which \u201cas people age their income grows, as wages keep pace with inflation. However, have I truly considered the time and resource commitment necessary for re-creation? Will I \u201cdevote considerable amounts of time to developing new skills and foresight about (work)(?)\u201d [5] Will I rethink \u201cleisure\u201d to incorporate more time to \u201creinvigorate and retrain\u201d [6] in my life and work rhythms? To help with this, it probably wouldn\u2019t hurt to use the authors\u2019 diagnostic tool on their website (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.100yearlife.com\/diagnostic\/\">https:\/\/www.100yearlife.com\/diagnostic\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>While the critique of The 100 year life, claiming an over focus on the affluent in U.S. Society, I do enjoy the books parceling out the tasks that Gen X and younger need to put into their goals. \u00a0\u00a0This morning, I spoke to my Gen X wife about her next education step (Government grant certification).\u00a0 Having that \u201cnext step\u201d focus speaks to the development of a lifelong learning habit. Each academic step prepares us for HIS plan.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DLGP03, Jennifer<strong> Eckert. <\/strong>\u201cSuch attention means intentionally redesigning how we think about life and time. While we all have a finite existence, we should be praying and asking God how we can make the most of the precious existence that He has entrusted to us. Each of us has been called for such a time as this; for some, they will have nearly 100 years of contributions!<\/p>\n<p>Totally agree with Jennifer, but sadly I don\u2019t remember asking God what HIS plan was for my life.
