Seeker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I move toward the window and draw back the curtain, shielding my eyes from the sunlight that pours through the window.\u00a0 As my eyes adjust, I can see people wre flooding the streets and making their way to the various ivory towers scattered throughout town.\u00a0 Each tower marks the residence of another Expert \u2013 those gifted in philosophy, theology, mathematics, literature, and economics among others.\u00a0 I catch a glimpse of the visitors, each wearing travel worn robes.\u00a0 I blink in surprise.\u00a0 <em>Seekers?\u00a0 It\u2019s been so long.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Seekers are those who come to the Experts seeking to understand and glean something from our wisdom.\u00a0 They approach us with humility, never questioning what we have to say.\u00a0 My heart stops beating and my discontent is satiated as I quickly make arrangements for any who would come seeking my knowledge.\u00a0 This was the one time I willingly invite and allow others to enter my tower.\u00a0 They come to Seek, not to Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>I move to the dais on the bottom floor and take my seat in the gilded high backed chair.\u00a0 I stroke the armrest that is inlaid with jewels and gems.\u00a0 <em>I\u2019ve earned this.\u00a0 I\u2019ve earned my seat of power.<\/em>\u00a0 Surrounded by my endless tomes, I revel in the power that knowledge has granted me.<\/p>\n<p>Time passes slowly as I wait.\u00a0 The sunlight that was streaming through the window begins to darken as the sun passes its zenith.\u00a0 The candles burn low and frustration begins to stir my heart.\u00a0 <em>Does no one care what I know?\u00a0 Surely there must be <\/em>someone.<\/p>\n<p>A knock at the door rouses my attention and I sit up straight, my heart hammering.\u00a0 Clearing my throat, I call out, \u201cYou may enter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The heavy mahogany doors creak as they open.\u00a0 <em>I need to get those hinges oiled.<\/em>\u00a0 A Seeker hesitantly enters the tower, their eyes wide in wonder and awe as they fall on me in my great seat.\u00a0 Pride wells inside.\u00a0 <em>Yes, this is more like it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The young Seeker approaches the dais and bows, paying proper respect.\u00a0 \u201cOh great Expert, I come to Seek what you know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I aim to provide you with answers,\u201d I say grandly.\u00a0 \u201cTell me, do you know of the phenomenological process of Brishnish?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Seeker looks at me in confusion.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m sorry?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe phenomenology of Brishnish is that our every day experience of the Brish can call us to mish mash the brashness of schlandery and vish.\u00a0 You see\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I proceed through my lecture, pouring my heart and soul into the great Retelling of Knowledge.\u00a0 Although I love to collect knowledge, there is a certain joy in being able to pass it on to the next.\u00a0 I\u2019m confident that my oratory and rhetorical skills will lead me to clearly articulate all that I know so that this Seeker may take my knowledge out of the tower.\u00a0 As I conclude, I gaze down at the Seeker in pride.\u00a0 \u201cDo you have any questions?<\/p>\n<p>The Seeker stares at me blankly.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2026didn\u2019t understand a word you said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I blink in surprise.\u00a0 \u201cWhat?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Seeker scratches their head.\u00a0 \u201cPardon my ignorance, but I\u2019m unfamiliar with\u2026everything you said.\u00a0 Can you simplify it for me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My jaw drops.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2026um\u2026well you see, the phenomenology of Brishnish is that our every day experience of the Brish can call us\u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re simply repeating what you just said.\u00a0 I heard you, but I don\u2019t understand.\u00a0 Can you try again?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flustered, I push on.\u00a0 \u201c\u2026the Brish can call us to mish mash the brashness\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Seeker shakes their head.\u00a0 \u201cDo you not know how to communicate your knowledge with me?\u00a0 How can you expect for a Seeker to carry your knowledge and wisdom when we cannot understand?\u201d\u00a0 The Seeker rubs their eyes in frustration.\u00a0 \u201cWe have been to every tower in this place today, and not one of you \u2018Experts\u2019 has actually taught us anything.\u00a0 You spout off in these \u2018great and mighty\u2019 terms and expect us to understand.\u00a0 You sit in your high chairs and look down on us from on high.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I stare at the Seeker in astonishment, at a loss for words.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat good is it to be an Expert if you cannot make accessible to the Seeker what you know?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat good are your fancy words when they have no real meaning?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n<p>The Seeker turns toward the door and stops as they prepare to exit.\u00a0 Turning around, they leave me with these words: \u201cHeed <em>my <\/em>words, \u2018Expert\u2019: Until others can grasp what you say, your knowledge is useless.\u00a0 Knowledge may be power, but if it is not properly wielded it is simply useless strokes on a page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"n3VNCb aligncenter\"
