A Welcome Weekend to Remember

At George Fox, we love rolling out the red carpet for new students! It’s our way of welcoming you to the George Fox family. That’s why each year, we go all out for Welcome Weekend. Take a look!

Right when you arrive on campus, a welcoming committee gathers around your car and gets you moved into your room within minutes. Then, it’s time to meet everyone in your dorm and explore campus. Welcome home!

Christ is at the center of everything we do. So, on the first evening of Welcome Weekend, new students and their families gather on the quad for a candlelight service. We worship together, families pray over students, and then they head home. Now it’s time for the fun to begin!

Your first night on campus is all about making new friends! After the university welcome session has concluded and families have left campus, it’s time for some late night fun! First, Rendezvous, where we gather on the football field for icebreaker games. Then, it’s Late Night at Target, where you’ll stock up on discounted dorm room supplies and get a chance to show off your best dance moves.

Day one of Welcome Weekend is packed – but we’re just getting started. There’s a trip to Oaks Amusement Park on Saturday, opportunities to explore all the coffee, food and shops that await in our hometown of Newberg, a campus worship session on Sunday morning, and on Sunday night, a Welcome Bash where all of campus comes together for one big celebration before classes start on Monday.

Each year we create a special video for the incoming class. This year we called it “Great Expectations.” It’s an expression of our hope for every George Fox student: that you will find your place, your community, your calling here. So keep dreaming big, Bruins. Your George Fox adventure has only just begun!
