Several special events during the George Fox basketball doubleheader Friday, Jan. 28. GFU fans, athletes, and coaches participated in the “Pink Zone” night, originated by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association to raise breast cancer awareness and collect donations for cancer research. A portion of the proceeds from the evening went to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
Fans were encouraged to contribute to a “Pink-Out” by wearing pink to the games. The women’s basketball team warmed up in pink shirts and shoelaces, and pink T-shirts were given away to fans all evening
At halftime of the women’s game, the women’s golf team was recognized for its outstanding 2009-10 campaign that carried them to their first Northwest Conference title and a first appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. A banner celebrating their NWC crown was presented to the team.
