More than 29,000 guests visit George Fox University campus this summer

NEWBERG, Ore. – More than 29,000 guests are expected to visit the George Fox University campus in Newberg, Ore., this summer, participating in a wide range of activities that include everything from music and sports camps to church conferences and, for a second straight year, a Special Olympics competition.

In May, the university hosted the 2012 annual District 5100 Regional Rotarian Conference, with 400-plus in attendance and Nobel Peace Prize-nominated Rev. John Dear as keynote speaker, as well as the OSAA High School State Choir Championships. The week of June 3-7, the United Methodist Women Pacific Training Conference visits. The event is designed to train leaders of the women’s mission conferences that take place at multiple locations around the U.S., including an annual missions conference held on the George Fox campus in July.

The Special Olympics Summer Games will visit July 14-15, when bocce ball will be played at the Austin Sports Complex. Athletes will stay in dorms on campus.
