COMM students invited to trivia night on Nov. 6

Calling all COMM students! Lambda Pi Eta is hosting its annual COMM Department Trivia Night on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the FoxHole!

This is a fantastic opportunity to get to know more about Lambda Pi Eta, meet and hang out with fellow COMM students, and, of course, the chance to beat your favorite professors at trivia! We will be providing snacks and fun; now all we need is you!

Join Latinx Heritage Club tonight and experience traditions of Dia de Los Muertos

Volunteers needed for trial runs of conditioning protocols

A handful of people are needed for a trial run of two different conditioning protocols for a student project. This will take place on Monday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 15, at 9:30 a.m. on the football field.

It will only take 10 to 15 minutes of your time. If this is something you would be interested in, come wearing comfortable workout gear suitable for running. Thank you.

Want to know more about the candidates and measures on the Oregon ballot? Oregon Voter’s Pamphlets are available in the Murdock Library Resource Center, courtesy of ASC Student Government and the Yamhill County clerk.

Stop by and get informed on state and county ballot information, and fill out a voter registration card if you haven’t already.

Election Day is Nov. 6. Ballots in Oregon are mail-in and are due by Nov. 5.

Join ‘Fox @ the Fireside’ featuring Guadalupe Garcia McCall

George Fox Library’s “Fox at the Fireside” event is back this year with another round of exciting guests!

Next Friday, Nov. 9, from 3 to 4 p.m., gather around the Murdock Library fireplace with coffee and light refreshments to chat with Guadalupe García McCall, award-winning young adult fiction author and assistant professor of English, about her latest books!

Her novel, Shame the Stars (Tu Books, 2016), was chosen as Texas’ Great Read 2018 by the Center for the Book in affiliation with Texas State Library and the Library of Congress. Her most recent novel, All the Stars Denied (Tu Books, 2018), has already received a starred review from School Library Journal. She will read selections from these two novels, share some stories, and open the space for further conversation around the fireplace.

Don’t forget comedy film tryouts this afternoon

Nicola Pieper and Austin Carrero are preparing to make a short film for intermediate directing class and are in need of actors. We are searching for the following roles: a young adult man for a comedy about the clash between a German tourist and an American car repairman.

We’re also looking for extras and a couple minor speaking roles: a bus driver (can be male or female) and the boss (can be male or female).

Tryouts will be held today (Thursday) from 3 to 6 p.m. in Lemmons 4. All actors will receive a 15-minute slot of time.

Please join us to learn about estate planning on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at noon in Canyon Commons 101. The Estate Planning Workshop will review the five documents everyone should have in place for a tax-efficient and loving estate plan.

Gene Christian, a recognized regional estate planning leader and George Fox alumnus, will present this workshop and be available to those who would like to confidentially discuss their estate plans.

A light lunch of soup and salad will be served. There is no cost to you for either the workshop or the lunch.
